Fountain Sfilzi, you think built by hermits who colonized the nearby resort Casalini, perhaps dates back to the VIII century. The source Sfilzi is the only mountain spring Gargano. The area is not subject to any kind of human intervention offers the image of an all-natural woodland topsoil. The dislocation of the area along the valley of Carpinosa and vegetation zone of tension between Turkey oak and beech forest, and the presence of valleys oriented north-south, offer the chance to observe interesting phenomena of thermal inversion and intrusion of species typical of the Mediterranean.

The proximity to the Village Umbra finally ensures the possibility of enjoying all the amenities of this resort: Museo naturalistico, information desk, ing fauna.

A staircase leads upstairs for housing and provided with a small terrace from which, between the branches of old-growth specimens of oak you can observe the fascinating world of plants around us. The barracks is in good condition and is still used for short periods of time for various activities. The barracks Murgia not be reached by a asphalt road, but can only be achieved through forest trails and dirt except for special cases, just walk. The topographical location sees the west of the nature reserve Falascone, famous for the presence of old-growth specimens Rate (Taxus baccata) and beautiful specimens of beech. The barracks can be reached through several marked paths that start from the pond Umbra, the edge of the reserve itself and the resort Falascone Shanties, located along the valley of the Treasury.
